One video, many formats: how we turn one recording into a month of content

Most long videos are watched in full by very few people. Here is the simple, step by step way we turn one recording into reels, LinkedIn posts, carousels and a newsletter.

One video, many formats. Gari Tech guide to content repurposing

You recorded a 40-minute video. It took a morning to plan, an hour to shoot and a weekend to edit. It went up on YouTube, and a few hundred people watched part of it.

That is normal. Long videos are great for the few people who sit through them. But most of your customers will never press play on a 40-minute video. They scroll. They read a post on LinkedIn between meetings. They watch 30 seconds of a reel while waiting for tea.

So the question is not "how do we make more content?" It is "how do we get more out of the content we already made?" That is what repurposing means.

Why long videos get lost

A long video holds many ideas, but they are buried. The best thing you said might be at minute 23. Nobody scrolling past will ever find it.

Repurposing pulls those ideas out and gives each one its own small piece of content, in the format the audience already uses.

There are probably 20 posts hiding in every video you have made.

Step 1: Find the moments

First we get a transcript. Then we read it like an editor, and mark every moment that can stand on its own. We look for things like:

  • The question every new client asks you
  • A mistake you see again and again in your field
  • A client story with a clear before and after
  • Your own step by step way of doing the work
  • An opinion most people in your field avoid saying out loud

A 40-minute recording usually gives us 8 to 12 strong moments.

Step 2: Match each moment to a format

Not every moment suits every format. Formats follow the audience, so we choose on purpose.

Reels and Shorts

Best for one sharp point you can make in under a minute. A strong first line, captions on screen, and one clear takeaway.

LinkedIn posts

Best for stories and opinions. We write them in your voice, with a hook in the first two lines and a simple question at the end so people reply.

Carousels

Best for frameworks and steps. If you explained a 3-step process, it becomes an 8-slide carousel people save and share.

Newsletter

Best for depth. We pull the strongest idea of the week into one short edition that goes straight to your subscribers.

Step 3: Post where your customers are

Then we schedule each piece on the platforms in your plan, a few times a week, so the ideas keep showing up. One recording can keep your profiles active for weeks.

This is also where the system starts to compound. A reel brings someone to your profile. A LinkedIn post earns their trust. A newsletter keeps you in their inbox until they are ready to talk.

What you need to start

Less than you think. If you already have videos, podcasts, webinar recordings, ebooks or old newsletters, you already have the raw material.

If you do not, we plan a short shoot first, with the topics and scripts ready before you sit down, so your time is used well.
